WHAT HAPPENS IF A BRIDESMAIDS/MOTHER OF THE BRIDE DROP OUT?
Unfortunately, if one of your bridal party drops out you will stay have to pay in full. I book the whole morning out of my diary for weddings and it is too late to re-book my diary for other clients as most brides book me 6-12 months in advance. Full payment will still be needed to cover loss of earnings.
HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL?
I am based in the West Midlands but I am happy to travel around the UK or abroad for weddings.
WHY DOES BRIDAL MAKEUP COST MORE?
There are a few reasons for this and the main one is the timing. As a freelance artist I set my price to reflect many things, such as the time spent with you, the amount of emails, texts and calls taken, and keeping my products and kits cleaned and well stocked. All of these take time out of my working day and need to be factored into the cost.
The reason why the bride pays more is that I take the most time on the bride, more than anyone else in the wedding party, because it is her big day and I want to ensure her expectations are met. As well as doing the makeup I also do touch ups just before leaving. I put a lot of prep into making sure the bride has the best customer service and experience so this is why my services may cost more than other artists.
Secondly, it is the luxury of not having to leave your home or hotel room the day of the wedding to travel to a store counter in front of everyone to be rushed and get your makeup done.
I pack up and clean all my products/brushes and travel to you the day of and you get to relax in your pj's with your maids sipping prosecco. I travel with my big heavy kit, bring a chair, and lighting directly to you for your comfort and convenience. I stand for hours, sometimes as many as 6 straight hours without a break or sitting down for 5 minutes.
Another factor is my experience and skill; I have trained at the prestigious and award winning School of Make-up in Manchester where I qualified in Bridal, Media, Fashion, TV and Film. I am also a graduate of the Val Garland Mastered School of Makeup. Val is one of the leading top makeup artist in the world who works with models from Kate Moss to Georgia Jagger. You are paying for my knowledge of what products to use that are camera friendly and which to avoid.
You are paying me to know appropriate makeup for all age groups, different skin types and skin conditions and which products are appropriate for both. You are paying me for the different ‘techniques’ that I have mastered in order to ensure your makeup lasts all day!
Lastly, I must cover all the expenses associated with being self-employed. These are insurance costs, products costs, advertising costs, website update costs and many more.
